The Larger-than-Life Conception Dollar

Cashing in on the unfolding state of awareness.

Recently, I received a most novel piece of currency in the mail from a friend: a $4 "Conception Dollar" minted for "The Unfolding State of Awareness." In this case, I don't believe the love [of this kind] of money is 'the root of all evil.' In fact, it appears that the intent behind this currency is for bartering for the highest good of all of earth's inhabitants. Oh, I think I hear Martha Stewart chiming in: "It's a good thing!"

Intrigued by this larger-than-life concept and looking closely at the bill, I notice dozens of positive sentiments lining the outer white frame (Joy, Music, Art, Humor, Honesty, Trust, Cooperation) and cleverly placed peace, life, love, yin-yang, and abundance symbols with various activist Web site URL's spread throughout the design. This note is in capital letters on the bill's front:

Conception $4 Dollar Bill (Back)

One of my favorite quotes on the back of the bill is situated under the white "Waking the Global Heart" text in the middle. It's too small to read on the above image, but it says, "Humanity's Rite of Passage from the Love of Power to the Power of Love." Oh, how I love consciousness-raising word play!

After doing some research on the Conception Dollar and looking up each Web site noted on the bill (the list is further down for your convenience), I learned that the dollar was created as a follow-up to the Deception Dollar, "One of the most popular political flyers of all time." [2], printed on August 28, 2007, and "passed out for the first time at the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, the 911 Power to the Peaceful Concert, and the 9/11 Truth Film Festival." [1]

Getting back to the money, as a graphic artist I must comment on the beautiful artwork and design of this novelty bill, which seems to be the handiwork of artist Blaine Machan. The size is larger than standard US currency, and it really is a nice "rich" work of art when you hold it in your hand and take in all the detail under an illuminating light.

Could the message invested in this $4 bill be an effect for change? The pay-off is in the possibilities. With a healthy circulation (by "passing the buck") I'm certain yields will abound. Speaking of plants, I think the Conception Dollar would fold up nicely for a Money Plant "Peace" Tree. Grow on that concept for awhile! •
