By Chris Dunmire, CurrentLiving.com
Headlines today are focused on fluctuating gas prices, an uncertain economy, and a groundbreaking presidential election only days away in the USA.
In the hustle and bustle of this modern world we often take for granted the simple, beautiful things in life. Close friends, loving mates, inviting nature, furry animals, innocent children, and our own creative gifts.
These simple things can be enjoyed each and every day and don't cost us a cent — yet they are often pushed aside as we hurry through life worrying about the political climate, economy, and other stresses while trying to get to "the next level" of our careers, education, material, social, and family status.
While the 'next level' is an important element related to our fulfillment in life, appreciating our lives in a larger framework as they are in this moment is crucial to cultivating an 'attitude of gratitude' that will ultimately make our lives more joyful. Focusing on what's going well and right today can help curb the stress dynamic life logistics bring on tomorrow.
I invite you to visit the Web site, www.gratefulness.org, and spend a few minutes reflecting on the everyday miracles and good things happening in your life today. Why not make a list of them to hang on your refrigerator door or car dash to remind yourself how fortunate you, and all of us really are to be part of the unfolding miracle of life taking place. •
